OUR FOUNDER : PAUL WILLIAM ALEXANDER

1888 - 1967

Founder President & President Emeritus
Y's Men International

Paul William Alexander laid the foundation of a great movement and nourished it with rare dedication. He gave it a golden motto and glittering and meaningful emblem, apart from the great name and constitution.

Y's dom was destinated to become P.W. Alexander's house and he built it on a rock. He was a superior Architect, skilled not only in adequate structural design but also as a master builder. Alex remained and active Y's Men leader and President Emeritus until he entered his eternal abode on 29th June, 1967. After his death he was honoured by a memorial service in Toledo attended by seven past International Presidents and in memorial tribute held at the National Board of the YMCAs of the USA.

In 1962, the International board adopted 8th December of each year for the celebration of PW. Alexander's birthday as the Founder's Day and the accompanying emphasis on the Alexander's Scholarship Fund.
